Recent schools events

On the 20th and 21st, 1300 young people took to the parks of Doneraile, Kennedy Arboretum and Tymon to complete orienteering courses. Well done to all the teachers, organisers and clubs concerned.

The rescheduled Cork Primary School Championships took place on Wednesday February 20th  at Doneraile Park. Upwards of 500 school children took part from 14 schools across the county. Four competitive courses were on offe: Primary 5th Girls and Primary 5th Boys,Primary 6th Girls and Primary 6th Boys as well as a  non competitive pairs event which proved very popular. The results are already posted on the IOA website.
C.S.O.A. are very grateful to so many people for helping to make this a success. Thanks to all the pupils for taking part along with their teachers and helpers.

Final Leinster Secondary League event

Another strong run by Maciek Piotrowski (St Kilians CS, Bray) in the final race of the Leinster Schools Orienteering League, held in Tymon Park, Tallaght, assured him of the league title in 5th/6th Year Boys category, his third consecutive league title win, whilst Luke Kearney (Castleknock CC) and Ruairi Long (Rockbrook Park, Rathfarnham) battled it out yet again, but Luke's faster running speed won through, securing him the title in 2nd/3rd Year Boys.  In the 1st Year Girls league, consistently good results in every race from Mairead Griffin (Castleknock CC) won her the title.
